Native to the eastern Mediterranean and Asia minor, Broccoli is a form of cabbage in the mustard family.  Broccoli is delicious both raw or lightly steamed, braised or grilled on the bbq.


Nutrition:  Broccoli is very high in vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, K, B-complex, calcium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, and iron. Broccoli is packed with anti-cancer compounds such as sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol, which are known to help prevent a variety of cancers (especially hormonal). Broccoli is excellent for strengthening memory, focus, and concentration skills. It is highly beneficial for the nervous system and is known to ease migraines, hypertension, and anxiety. It contains natural antihistamine properties and is fantastic for warding off seasonal allergies, sinus infections, colds, flu's, and bronchitis.
